ODDY

is a cooperative VR game in which five characters go on a journey together. They search for the source that keeps the village alive and have to overcome several challenges along the way. Despite all the challenges that await them, they realize that only together can they overcome them and move forward.

The game is played via VR glasses and smartphone. One character is controlled using VR glasses and therefore has different abilities and character traits than the other four characters. These are controlled using a smartphone.

Sound design special features

Since the game is played on different platforms at the same time and the player has different skills and tasks depending on the platform and the perspective on the current level is also very different, the requirements for the sound design and the mix were very different depending on the platform.

Different perspectives

As a great helper, the VR player has an overview of the entire level from above, whereas the mobile players have to find their way through much smaller and can only see (and hear) their immediate surroundings. The sound design had to have a completely independent mix for each platform, as very different audio cues were relevant and only certain sounds were audible.

performance

The different performance of different playback devices also had to be taken into account in the sound design and audio codecs, file size and other factors had to be adjusted accordingly.
